At Shasta River Nature School, we guide each child in the process of discovering and harnessing their own unique talents, interests, and gifts.
We are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment where ALL children feel welcomed, seen, celebrated, and free to express themselves fully and authentically. Regardless of a child's DIFFERENT abilities and SPECIFIC needs (vs disabilities or special needs), EVERYONE has a place here.
As our name implies, we believe nature is both a sacred classroom and revered teacher. As guides, we create a learning ecosystem that utilizes the transformative power of nature and experiential learning. By allowing children the freedom to tap in to their interests, intuition, and intrinsic motivation we empower them to take ownership and forge their unique path of exploration and learning. Thus, curriculum is emergent, firmly rooted in Montessori principles and materials, but also incorporating other holistic, alternative educational models such as Reggio Emilia.

We are currently serving children ages 5-12 with the hope to offer a preschool visit time 1 morning/week. We meet to learn & play 3 days a week Tuesday-Thursday from 9 am - 3 pm.
Our 2 lead teachers have decades of experience teaching in Montessori public, private, and charter schools as well as homeschool co-ops. They also have additional certification and experience in administration, special education, outdoor education, sensory integration, and social-emotional skills development.
